  Artist Bio

McDermott works at the intersection of new media exploring social constructs, economic disparity, and the heightening personalization of technology. Their practice manifests as conceptual pieces taking form as installation, video, sculpture, writing, painting, and performance. Her research and intuitive-based practice aim to explore the space of the subconscious.

She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts and a BA in Finance and Environmental Design & Space Planning from City University of New York. Their work has been exhibited at various galleries and fairs, including Present Company, Beverley’s, Shrine Gallery, the Fowler Arts Center, and Governors Island in New York. Their work has also been exhibited with the SPRING/BREAK Art Fair in New York; SELECT Fair and SATELLITE Fair in Miami; and the Material Art Fair in Mexico City.

In 2020, McDermott served as a Teaching Assistant to Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt at the School of Visual Arts in the MFA Fine Art Department.
